2015 Hyundai Sonata

If you are looking for a mid-size sedan, there is no shortage of cars competing for your attention.  Before you go to the usual suspects, though, be sure to take a look at the Hyundai Sonata.  The Sonata outclasses the competition in any number of ways.  Let's take a look head-to-head with the Toyota Camry (both 2015 models)

Starting with price, the Sonata comes in with a base MSRP of over $1800 less than the Camry.  This despite getting better highway mileage (37 vs. 35 mpg), more horsepower (185 vs. 178 hp), and, of course, a much longer drivetrain warranty (Hyundai's signature 10 year, 100,000 miles warranty vs. Toyota's 5-year, 60,000 mile)

Beyond the numbers, Hyundai scores better when it comes to features as well.  Hyundai offers amenities like a hands-free smart trunk, Android Auto, and a panoramic sunroom that are simply not available on a Camry.  Lujack Hyundai offers a great selection of Hyundai Sonata models.  Give us a call or stop by our showroom to see them all.

Hyundai Announces new Genesis Luxury Brand

Genesis G90 Rendering

Last week, Hyundai announced that they will be spinning off a separate luxury brand, which will be named Genesis.  Genesis has been, along with the Equus, the high end car of the Hyundai label for several years.  Now, Genesis will be a stand-alone brand.

The plan is for six new models to be part of the Genesis line by the year 2020.  The first Genesis model, the G90 will be unveiled in December, and is expected to be the flagship for the brand.  Current Hyundai stores are expected to be co-branded with the Genesis line, rather than having separate Genesis stores.

We should know more next month when the "Genesis EQ900" (the Korean equivalent of the G90) goes on sale in Korea.  Be sure to check back at Lujack Hyundai to see when the G90 may be available.

2016 Hyundai Tucson "RPG"

Off-road specialists Rockstar Performance Garage has put their not-so-subtle touches on a 2016 Hyundai Tucson, and the result, the Tucson RPG, are fantastic.

They've beefed up the suspension, thereby adding 6" to the CUV's height, and carved out the wheel wells to accommodate 32" tires on 17" rims.  They've also upgraded the turbon piping, and re-done the exhaust, intake and intercooler, boosting the output from the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine.

With the blacked-out exterior and LED light bar completely the look, Rockstar has taken an excellent but take CUV and created a serious off-road machine.

Hyundai is Leading the way with the Tuscon Fuel Cell

Since the gas crisis back in the 1970's we've all been hearing about alternative fuels for vehicles.  While electric and hybrid vehicles have come a long way in the past 20 years, the next big thing in non-gasoline based cars could well be the Hyundai Fuel Cell.

At present it is sold only in California, as the Los Angeles area builds more Hydrogen filling stations.  The 265 mile range is closer to a traditional combustion engine than most electric vehicles.  Aside from getting away from oil dependence, the only emissions from this Tucson is water.

It will be a few years before we see if the Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology takes off, but Hyundai has been willing to make the bold steps necessary to advance the technology.

Can we have the Hyundai Vision-G soon? Please?

Hyundai unveiled their Vision-G concept car at the Concors d'elegance in California last month.  Beautiful inside and out, and with a powerful V-8 engine, the Vision-G would be Hyundai's major entrance into the luxury car space.  Here's hoping we will see it on our Showroom floor sooner rather than later.

Is There a Hyundai Santa Cruz in the Not-too-Distant Future?

The Hyundai Santa Cruz is still in the "concept" stage, it would be an exciting addition to the Hyundai family.  With seating for five and a unique expandable bed, the Santa Cruz would be unlike anything on the market today.

According to Car and Driver, Hyundai's bosses expect to approve the Santa Cruz for production as early as this November.  Here's hoping!

The 2016 Hyundai Tuscon SE Combines Value with Substance

Hyundai is stoked about their upgraded 2016 Tuscon, and with good reason.  But while most of the attention goes to the "higher end" versions, the Eco, Sport, and Limited packages, the SE offers great value, even without some of the frills and LED lights.

The 175 horsepower 4-cylinder is just a slight step down from the turbo-charged engine in the more Sport and Limited versions, but not too much.  Just 11 hp less than the turbo models.

The interior of the Tuscon SE is also surprisingly attractive, comfortable, and quiet for the more basic model.  A nice, intuitive infotainment system provides all of the components you need without overdoing it with excessive controls.  There is plenty of cargo and storage space, with an adjustable cargo floor in the rear that you can adjust for a deeper well.

While other manufacturers tend to make their more "base" models look and feel cheap, Hyundai has done a great job with the 2016 Tuscon SE, and all with an MSRP of just under $24,000.

Hyundai ranked by J.D Power

Congratulations Hyundai!!

On Wednesday, July 22nd, Hyundai accomplished another tremendous achievement when J.D. Power and Associates announced that we ranked No. 2 among non-premium automakers in the 2015 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. Hyundai was the highest-ranked non-premium brand in the study last year - only the niche brand Mini placed higher than us in the 2015 study.

Once again, in a J.D. Power study, we finished ahead of Ford, Honda, Nissan and Toyota. In its 20th year, the APEAL study examines owners’ assessments of the design, content, layout, and performance of their new vehicle.

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata ranked second in the midsize car segment. Furthermore, five Hyundai models (Elantra, Genesis, Santa Fe, Tucson and Veloster) increased their scores in this year’s study. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata finished second in the midsize car segment by just two points – 817 v. 819. The brand also ranked No. 1 overall in the critical Audio/Communication/ Entertainment/Navigation category.

2015 APEAL Results and Executive Summary

  • Hyundai Ranks second among non-premium automakers
  • Brand continues to improve year-over-year
  • Sonata finishes in second place in its segment
  • Brand finishes in the top two rankings among non-premium automakers for second year in a row
Finishing among the top two non-premium brands in this year’s J.D. Power, the APEAL Study shows Hyundai takes design, technology, features, and performance seriously across the entire lineup. Having the best-selling Sonata ranking among the top two in its class is a remarkable accomplishment and we are committed to delivering the highest customer experience possible to our owners.

As you may recall, Hyundai recently ranked second among non-premium automakers and fourth among all brands in the J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Initial Quality StudySM (IQS). The 2015 HyundaiTucson was awarded for the highest initial quality in the small SUV segment and the 2015 Hyundai Accent earned the highest IQS honor in the small-car segment for the second year in a row.

You need a reason to buy an Elantra GT? Here's 10 of em'

10 Reasons you need buy a Hyundai Elantra GT

From its sleek projector headlights and redesigned grille to the available LED tail lights, the Elantra GT creates a signature style that combines functionality with a distinctly European flair. From the Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM) to the 6-speed manual transmission, discover all the details that make Elantra GT like no other hatchback on the road.  Here are 10 reasons to get into an Hyundai Elantra GT today!

1. Its Affordable!
Base versions start under $20,000.  You can add a style package for only $2,750 and a tech package for $2,350 more. That is significantly cheaper than the Toyota Prius and Lexus  CT 200h, but competitive with the Subaru Impreza Premium.

2. It'll fit all your friends.
Even the big ones! The 5-passenger wagon has enough leg room and more than 40 cubic inches of headroom in front. So volunteer to drive when you go out because even your tallest friends will fit.

3. It is from a brand that lacks image problems.
Hyundai is young a marque on the rise. It is not enmeshed with government funding. It is not trying to figure out how to keep momentum. And it does not demand the price premium of a luxury brand name. It's a refreshing change.

4. The Interior is sleek.
Buttons for the telematics, temperature and radio controls are presented in a straightforward, uncluttered way. Hyundai is not interested in being too clever or cute with its inside display, which is a really advantage as others seem to push technology just for bragging rights.

5. It looks better than other wagon competitors.
It's arguable cooler than the Ford Matrix, Toyota Venza or the Mazda Sport. The Lexus C looks pretty sleek, but it costs almost $10,000 more. And for looks, it blows the Kia Soul and Nissan Cube out of the water!

6. You can whip it.
Sure, the car is a bit sluggish off the line, but the driver-specific steering modes and its trim physique made it easily navigable and nimble, event through cluttered streets.

7.  It has a large sunroof.
Never underestimate the power of a VERY BIG SUNROOF. It floods your car with sunlight, making the whole thing seem large, light and airy. And, it adds an almost luxurious cache to the whole enterprise.

8. You could run a bodega out of the back.
Storage space in this baby abounds: With the seats down, it has 51-cubic feet of cargo, one foot less than the spacious Subaru Impreza Sport Premium.

9. It has four doors.
Consider that another notch in the practicality post. Yes, it's an obvious reason, but some hatchbacks don't have four doors.

10. It's efficient.
The Hyundai Elantra GT get 28mpg in the city and 39mpg on the highway. That beats the Kia Soul, Toyota Venza and Ford Focus SEL.

So now that you're armed with more information on why you need to go out a buy an Elantra GT, shop our online inventory here. Or, visit our showroom located at 101 W. 37th St. Davenport, IA. 52806 and speak with one of our Hyundai Certified Specialists. We look forward to helping you!
